Among the hundreds getting food and water for the first time Tuesday was Crystal Bowen. He then met with local and state officials, as well as SC senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, at the Horry County Emergency Operations Center.

During a packed day, he visited both North and SC, distributed meals at a church, walked amid piles of sodden furniture in damaged neighborhoods, offered hugs and handshakes to residents and discussed the response efforts with local and state officials.

Following the briefing in Cherry Point, the president's motorcade traveled to the city of New Bern, where he visited Temple Church, a Baptist church serving as a distribution center.
