China's foreign ministry said on Monday it would retaliate if U.S. President Donald Trump goes ahead with his plan of imposing tariffs on practically all Chinese imports.

A reason for dread or celebration?

After President Trump tweeted that Ford should build the Focus Active in the United States and pay zero levies, Mark Levine, spokesperson for Ford, tweeted that the company hasn't changed its mind on not offering the crossover in America. Kristin Dziczek of the Center for Automotive Research said Ford can make Focuses "in many other plants around the world, so if they made a decision to continue to sell a Focus variant in the USA market, there are several options other than building it in the United States". Start building new plants now.

The technology sector is among the biggest potential losers as tariffs would make imported computer parts more expensive.

Shares of Apple and its suppliers fell on the news.

Last week, Apple said a proposed new round of $200 billion in additional tariffs on Chinese imports would raise prices on some of its products, including the Apple Watch and the Mac mini.

I just didn't get it at all!" she added. "And that was a day, actually, when I didn't want to go out all, because I was working". I still love your music! "I'll probably come to the concert very soon". "You're not gonna be able to get in", Ellen joked.

The two countries have already exchanged tens of billions of dollars in tariffs on the other's imports, leading to growing concerns of a trade war between the world's two largest economies.

But Ford had originally planned to bring the small crossover vehicle to the USA market beginning in late 2019.

The $200bn of Chinese goods on the United States list includes consumer products such as cameras and recording devices, luggage, handbags, tires and vacuum cleaners, with additional tariffs ranging from 10 to 25 percent.

The company is highly exposed to a trade war between the US and China. The auto had been set to replace the Focus in the US, with the Focus Active going on sale in the second half of 2019.

In China, labor costs for motor vehicle and parts manufacturing are about $8 per hour including benefits, but it's more than $52 per hour in the USA, according to Dziczek.

"Semiconductors are America's fourth-largest export, and our industry has a global trade surplus of over $6 billion and a surplus with China of close to $2 billion in 2017", Intel's letter said.

In addition, the chip industry is a source of trade surplus for the USA, including with China, Intel argued.
