He also said that India will "grab world's attention" on Sardar Patel's birth anniversary celebration scheduled to be held on October 31. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said - "India is going through a massive transformative phase today".

Modi, who arrived in Japan last evening to attend the 13th India-Japan annual summit, has said the partnership between the two countries has been fundamentally transformed and it has been strengthened as a "special strategic and global partnership".

Modi chose Japan among the first nations to visit after taking power four years ago.

Thereafter, the Prime Ministers visited the FANUC industrial facility, which specialises in automation. These apart, Modi also gifted a Jodhpuri wooden chest from Rajasthan with traditional work. During the visit, Abe held separate talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.

Modi presented Abe two handcrafted stone bowls and dhurries made from rose quartz and yellow quartz stone sourced from Rajasthan.

"It rests on the strong pillars of India's Act East Policy, and our shared vision and commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific", he said.

Japan-India cooperation continued to expand broadly in many fields such as security, investment, information technology, agriculture, health, environment and tourism, Abe noted.

Pakistan restores ban on Indian content on TV channels
While the ban was lifted in February this year, the permission to air teleplays or television dramas was still not granted. Indian movies are popular in Pakistan and throughout the region, and Bollywood employs many Pakistani musicians and actors.

Abe and Modi will hold a formal summit Monday in Tokyo, during which strengthening bilateral security and economic cooperation are expected to be high on the agenda.

Abe and Modi then visited a factory of industrial robot manufacturer Fanuc in Yamanashi before moving on to the prime minister's holiday home in the nearby village of Narusawa.

PM Modi will later meet with Japanese Venture Capitalists, the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko, Foreign Minister Taro Kono and the Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party, Toshihiro Nikai. The two leaders discussed regional issues including North Korea and agreed to cooperate in achieving the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, Japan's Foreign Ministry said. "My best wishes are with you", PM Modi said after he was greeted by a group of Indians in Tokyo on the last day of his two-day visit.

"I am confident this visit will add new vigour to the strong friendship between India and Japan", Modi said in a tweet.

"Japan is also at the forefront of engaging in our national initiatives, such as "Make in India", "Skill India", "Digital India", "Start Up India".

Before leaving for the trip, Modi described India and Japan as a "winning combination".

Japan and India, together with the United States, have been boosting defence cooperation to counter China's growing influence in the region, with the three countries conducting naval exercises regularly in the Indian Ocean.
