Australia Open to Moving Its Israel Embassy to Jerusalem

Australia considers following US on Jerusalem embassy

"We're committed to a two state solution, but frankly, it hasn't been going that well".

"You've got to just stand up for what you believe and you can do that when you've got good relationships with your neighbours, which we do", he said.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Tuesday that he is open to relocating the Australian embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The ministry said "How can Australia continue to encourage the Palestinian side while doing exactly the opposite when it declares its intention to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel?"

Jerusalem is claimed by both Israelis and Palestinians.

The status of Jerusalem is one of the most contentious issues of the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "We have a lot of students coming from the Gulf states and other countries, we have a large community", Abdulhadi said. "It might increase the chances of the government winning Wentworth in Australia", he said.

The Prime Minister denied the looming by-election in Wentworth, which has a large Jewish community, had any impact on his decision on Australia's shift in approach to Middle East policy, or that his evangelical religious beliefs - a key factor in the shift in United States policy in the region - played any role.

He went on to call on Australia to support the two-state solution with a view to achieving peace and promoting regional and world security.

Unapproved, Sometimes Dangerous Drugs Found In Dietary Supplements
Most supplement consumers wrongly believe that the products they are purchasing are regulated or vetted in some way. They also noted that another study found that 23,000 emergency visits per year are due to supplements.

George Browning, president of the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network, accused the government of "aligning itself with the most erratic, reactionary and bullish U.S. foreign policy ever".

"And I was very pleased by the warm exchange I had yesterday with the President". Far too numerous resolutions on the Middle East passed by the UN General Assembly are not only one-sided and biased, but unhelpful and counterproductive to achieving a just and lasting peace. Australia is violating UNSC resolutions.

Izzat Salah Abdulhadi, the head of the Palestinian delegation to Australia, said people "were really angry, really frustrated, and disappointed with this policy", per The Guardian. "We look forward to the results of the government's reviews of its policies on Iran and Jerusalem".

Mr Morrison said he would consult with his cabinet and other nations before making any decisions.

Netanyahu tweeted afterwards that the Australian premier had "informed me that he is considering officially recognizing Jerusalem [al-Quds] as the capital of Israel & moving the Australian embassy to Jerusalem [al-Quds]".

Scott Morrison has announced Australia will consider recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moving its embassy there - in a move immediately seen in the context of Saturday's byelection in Wentworth, which has a large Jewish population.

Israel is the only nation on earth denied the right, in a practical sense, to choose its own capital. Israel closed its embassy in Asuncion in response. The eastern sector of Jerusalem is considered to have been annexed by Israel in the 1967 war, while the Jewish State regards the whole city as its capital.

"Indonesia conveys our strong concern on the announcement and questions the merit of the announcement", she said after consultations with her Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki on Tuesday.
