Bethesda: Fallout 76 "Wasn’t Doable" On Nintendo Switch

Fallout 76 Microtransactions Won't be Pay to Win

First comes the Fallout 76 live action multiplayer trailer that showcases a golden oldie song from the Beach Boys, "Wouldn't It be Nice".and a giant sloth. Speaking at PAX Australia, Bethesda boss Pete Hines promisingly hinted that "the next Wolfenstein" would arrive on Switch (which is likely Youngblood given that it's an extension of Wolfenstein II), but Fallout 76 never will.

Bethesda has been one of the highest-profile major publishers throwing its weight behind the Nintendo Switch, but this won't extend to Fallout 76. If the game will work on it, we want it to be on every platform possible. But, despite the fact that the online Fallout game is bypassing Nintendo's popular handheld console, Bethesda still considers it to be a platform worth the time and money to develop for. But honestly, there is no game in development that we haven't had a conversation about [bringing it to Switch]. During the PAX Aus panel Hines stated the release of Fallout 76 just "wasn't doable" though that doesn't rule out future projects for the Switch.

Talking about the development of 2016's Doom (via GameXplain) Hines said that the studio "knew about the Switch" and was able to "make some choices to make sure that it was scalable so that it would not be too far out of line with what the Switch was doing".

However, things take a turn for the worse in The Obliged and, in the end, Rick suffers the consequences. It'll be interesting to see if the show gets a ratings boost from Rick's exit.

"I enjoy us being seen as the third-party leader in terms of supporting Switch", he says; "People go, 'Hey, you've got a lot more stuff [on Switch] than this publisher or that publisher".

"If the game will work on it, we want it to be on every platform possible", Hines said. It's unclear which of these he was referring to, or whether Hines was teasing a Switch release for both.
