Rand Strip Saudi Funding Until We Find Out What Happened to Khashoggi

The Washington Post reported the Turkish government has told USA officials it has audio and video recordings which show how Khashoggi was "interrogated, tortured and then murdered" inside the consulate before his body was dismembered.

Turkish daily Milliyet reported "arguments and shouting" could be heard on the recordings.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Saturday that Saudi authorities should cooperate to provide access fro Turkish prosecutors and experts into the consulate premises for a sound investigation into the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Saudi intelligence noticed the watch on Khashoggi's wrist "and tried to erase some files", the paper said.

A delegation from Saudi Arabia has now arrived in Turkey as part of a joint investigation into the disappearance. "We're being very tough and we have investigators over there and we're working with Turkey and Saudi Arabia".

"I actually think we'd be punishing ourselves if we did that".

U.S. President Donald Trump has promised to personally call Saudi Arabia's King Salman to discuss what he called "the bad situation in Turkey". The President said that Cengiz wrote "a lovely letter" to him and first lady Melania Trump and that they would welcome her.

This image, taken from closed-circuit TV video obtained by the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, claims to show Khashoggi entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

The Washington Post reported earlier this week that the Turkish government informed us officials it was in possession of video recordings that prove Khashoggi was killed inside the consulate.

"What has reportedly happened in Turkey around the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, if proved true, would clearly change the ability of any of us in the West to do business with the Saudi government", Branson said in a statement.

In a "60 Minutes" interview, President Donald Trump said the incident was "being investigated" and warned that "there will be severe punishment" if Saudi Arabia was involved with Khashoggi's death.

Ottawa will keep its $15bn arms deal with Riyadh despite concerns over Saudi involvement in the disappearance of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the diplomatic row over human rights, Prime Minister Trudeau said.

"We're going to find out what happened", Trump pledged when questioned by reporters in Cincinnati where he was headlining a political rally.

He told me at the International Monetary Fund meeting in Bali: "We need to have a strong request for the truth to be clear".

So is Saudi Arabia.

He also stressed that what has been circulating about orders to kill Khashoggi are lies and baseless allegations against the government of the Kingdom, which is committed to its principles, rules and traditions and is in compliance with global laws and conventions.

Mr Tugendhat added that it was important to establish the facts, but if the Riyadh government had murdered Khashoggi there could be a downgrading of diplomatic relations and a boycott by United Kingdom ministers.

Also speaking on Friday's release of American pastor Andrew Brunson, Cavusoglu said he was released as the judicial process on Brunson was completed.
