Game Of Thrones Prequel Adds Naomi Watts As First Star

Game Thrones Prequel Series Naomi Watts

Game Thrones Prequel Series Naomi Watts

Watts will be appearing in the prequel written by Jane Goldman (Kingsman, Kick-Ass), which is just one of five potential Game Of Thrones prequels now in the works at HBO.

After an arduous search and extensive negotiation processes, MULHOLLAND DR. and KING KONG actor Naomi Watts has been cast to lead HBO's upcoming GAME OF THRONES prequel pilot, from KINGSMAN franchise and and KICK-ASS scribe Jane Goldman and Game of Thrones author and TV series co-executive producer George R.R. Martin.

Watts will play "a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret". This particular project will be a prequel series from Jane Goldman. It was the winning pitch out of five, though HBO hasn't ruled out using one of the other scripts for some objective.

Patriots' Sony Michel's knee injury 'not considered serious'
Should that happen, the Patriots - who already are thin at running back - may want to consider adding some backfield depth. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski missed the Patriots' 38-31 win over the Bears with ankle and back injuries.

Think back to the start of Season One of Game Of Thrones, and how big it seemed that someone of the stature of Sean Bean would be in this show (especially considering what would become of him). EW notes that if the series adheres to Martin's books, we could see both the founders of House Stark and House Lannister as major characters. Watts also earned Academy Award nominations for her roles in "21 Grams" and "The Impossible".

Watts' recent credits include the television series Twin Peaks and Gypsy, and the drama features The Glass Castle and Ophelia.

"'Game of Thrones' fans are always looking for new ways to represent their love for the show and their favorite characters", said Jeff Peters, vice president of licensing and retail at HBO. It will reportedly explore the Age of Heroes, and uncover "the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history", as well as "the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend".
