Those riots came after Israel had allowed into Gaza a large amount of fuel that had been purchased from an Israeli company by Qatar, Hamas' most important sponsor.

"The situation as it is today can not continue", Avigdor Lieberman told troops and commanders at Reim army base, near southern Israel's border with Hamas-ruled Gaza. "I think that at this stage we have exhausted the possibilities".

The image was taken in an area that was "very unsafe and hard to access", noted Thomas Coex, AFP's chief photographer for Israel and the Palestinian Territories, France 24 added.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman also announced the closure of both of Israel's border crossings with Gaza, the Kerem Shalom goods crossing and the Erez people crossings.

The sound of the siren called on more than 200,000 residents of Be'er Sheva to find a shelter amid the rocket fire.

Four Israelis were being treated for shock in a hospital after surviving the early morning rocket attack.

The IDF also released a video showing a terror squad setting up a launching pad, loading rockets and the IDF strike on the squad. A second rocket landed off the coast of central Israel, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said. "We are determined to prevent and pursue the actions of terrorist organizations", he said.

It comes a day after Israel's defence minister said the time had come to deliver a "heavy blow" to Hamas after weeks of escalation violence along the border.

Scott Miller says sign stealing is all people have been talking about. "Somebody mentioned (it) to me right now". They really did just a fantastic job over there of being ready and prepared before the series.

"Hamas has apparently not understood the message - if these attacks do not stop, they will be stopped in another way, in the form of very, very strong blows", Netanyahu was quoted as saying. "This is the only way to return the situation to its previous state, and to reduce the level of violence to almost zero", he said on a tour around the Gaza border on Tuesday.

In response, Israel halted Qatari-donated fuel shipments to Gaza's power plant and warned that if the violence didn't stop there would be series consequences.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility from any of the other smaller groups that operate in Gaza, and by mid-afternoon the area was quiet.

Lieberman said that would only allow Iran to fully arm Hamas.

In addition, the IDF identified an attempted rocket launch in northern Gaza and struck the launcher before the rocket was sacked.

Violence raged throughout the weekend and into late Monday, with some 20,000 Palestinians participating in the demonstration, which have grown increasingly violent as Hamas operatives begin to deploy explosive devices, grenades, incendiary balloons, and other makeshift weapons. The renewed border violence is part of an effort by Hamas to test Israel's will and provoke a violent response.

It didn't achieve Hamas" goal of a complete removal of the Israeli "blockade' either, and as things stand now the terror group could face another devastating defeat at the hands of the IDF.
