Meanwhile, the head of the BCCI's Internal Complaints Committee, Karina Kriplani resigned from her post barely six months after the parent body formed the women's grievance cell.

Advocate Kriplani's resignation came a day after the Committee Of Administrators (CoA) announced the formation of an independent three-member committee to probe the sexual harassment allegations against Johri. I had planned this for a long time.

The BCCI officials say the appointment of an internal committee "would have been the correct process" and hence were surprised by Thursday's communication by the Committee of Administrators (CoA) that an independent committee had been formed to investigate the matter and given 15 days to revert with findings and propose action. The external member of the committee was Veena Gowda.

Meanwhile, former Mumbai captain Shishir Hattangadi has said he will testify against Johri if asked to board.

BCCI's office-bearers and majority of state cricket associations have now questioned the move by COA chief Rai to form a three-member panel - Justice Rakesh Sharma (former judge, Allahabad high court), Barkha Singh (former chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women) and PC Sharma (former director CBI) - without adhering to the BCCI's new constitution, approved by the Apex court. "If the @BCCI want information about Rahul Johri on #metoo I am happy to assist them. I am putting my hand up as a former Captain!" he wrote on his Twitter account.

Vanessa Hudgens & Jordan Fisher To Reunite For Fox's 'Rent Live'!

Choudhary said there was no explanation in the CoA's press release of how the inquiry committee was constituted and who chose its three members.

Edulji, expressed her view that since the CEO has such grave sexual harassment allegations against him, it would not be in the interests of BCCI and Indian cricket that he represents BCCI.

"The Chairman was very clear that in similar instances, the person against whom allegations had been made, were permitted to represent their case before an independent committee which would then take a considered view after weighing all evidence", the statement read. The release also detailed the disagreement between Rai, who felt an independent inquiry was necessary, and Edulji, who had wanted Johri to resign or have his contract terminated. "That being so, the Learned Chairman has no power or authority to prevail over the views of the other esteemed member and take decisions unilaterally on behalf of the CoA or on behalf of the BCCI". Johri has been on leave since the first accusation was made against him.

Earlier, the state units of Saurashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Goa wrote to the COA, demanding Johri's removal.
