The crooner admitted he no longer "has the stomach" for fame and has "changed his perception on life" following his son's cancer diagnosis aged 3. Why are we here?

"It's been such a hard exercise".

He speaks openly about the horror of facing his child's cancer diagnosis in a major new interview with the Mail on Saturday: "You just want to die". I'm retiring. I decided I'll never read my name again in print, never read a review, and I never have.

He won't be using social media, conducting interviews or releasing music moving forward, apart from his final album.

"My whole being's changed". "The diagnosis made me realise how stupid I'd been to worry about these unimportant things".

Unable to control his emotions during the hard chat, Michael reflected on fame and admitted he became "embarrassed by his ego". I don't even know how I was breathing.

Hazard: Who I Think Deserves Ballon D'Or
We didn't win, we got into a sort of routine, training without having fun, it was better for all parties that we parted ways. I walked into Stamford Bridge and hear this shout: 'Mauriziooooooo!' Then the chants, it makes you want to pinch yourself.

'My wife was the same and even though I was the stronger of the two of us, I wasn't strong.

The 43-year-old also recalled trying to make the best of a bad situation with his wife Luisana Lopilato by calling the hospital "the fun hotel", and making tents out of bed sheets for his son.

"I missed the guys in my band so I said to them, 'Come over to the house, let's drink, order pizza, play video games and jam.' They came over, we partied and we said, 'Let's play some music.' I thought, 'Wow!" "When this awful news came in I realized I wasn't having fun in the music business", he shared.

"Somehow, though, I don't think he really means it", added Iley. "But then I started to wonder why I wanted to do this in the first place". This was about a year ago.

During an emotional "last interview" Michael opened up about the devastating impact Noah's illness had on the couple. According to the article, he says, "I'm retiring from the business. I'm retiring. I've made the ideal record and now I can leave at the very top". So naturally, we're devastated to find out that the man himself has just confirmed that he is officially giving up his music career. Maybe when you let go, maybe that's when it comes back to you.
