Netherlands vs. Germany - Football Match Report

Depay celebrates his goal.

The Netherlands will host Germany in a UEFA Nations League group matchup on Saturday, Oct. 13.

There was still time for another though, and Georginio Wijnaldum was the man who got it as his low effort beat Manuel Neuer to complete the humiliation for the recently dethroned world champions.

The result spoiled a record-setting day for Joachim Low, who claimed the record for most ever matches in charge of Germany.

Theresa May verging closer to Brexit deal but is facing cabinet resignations
The UK Chancellor of the Exchequer says Brexit negotiations with the European Union have become more positive over the past week.

Since the end of their World Cup qualifying campaign in October 2017, Germany have only won one competitive match - a 2-1 World Cup win over Sweden - and gained two victories in friendlies - against Saudi Arabia and Peru.

Since then, Germany fell 2-0 to South Korea to shockingly crash out of the World Cup, and then drew France 0-0 in the Nations League before Saturday's match in Amsterdam.

That miss proved costly, as with Germany pushing for an equaliser, they gave the ball away and Promes set up Depay to score in the 86th minute.

Substitute Leroy Sane, controversially left out of Germany's World Cup squad and with much to prove in a national team jersey, was played into acres of space in the box but fired wide when he looked certain to score his first global goal. And Wijnaldum added a third soon after.
