Pakistan to bat first in final T20I against Australia

The selection panel headed by Inzamam-ul-Haq took a decision in consultation with head coach Mickey Arthur and captain Sarfraz Ahmed soon after the side's 3-0 T20I series win over Australia in Dubai.

Alex Carey gave Australia a whirlwind start of 20 when he smashed left-arm spinner Imad Wasim for two sixes and two boundaries in the first over.

That set the tone for Australia's downfall and, although Marsh (21) briefly threatened a comeback, Hasan Ali (2-14) mopped up the tail to seal a comfortable victory in the final over.

Leg-spinner Shadab Khan (3-19) was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers, while Australia did themselves few favours in the run chase, supplementing some poor shots with two careless run-outs.

Captain Sarfraz Ahmed says it was a good team effort. "We wanted to carry forward the momentum to the New Zealand series, the way we bowled and took our catches was superb tonight".

"Our bowling was very impressive all series, keeping them to below 150 was great".

Pakistan also won the Test series 1-0.

Farhan, dismissed for a first-ball duck in his only previous match against Australia in Harare in July, hit a 38-ball 39.

Shoaib Malik scored 18 and became the second-highest run-scorer in T20 global history, passing New Zealand s Brendon McCullum. He featured in three unofficial ODIs against New Zealand A in UAE earlier in the month, picking five wickets in three matches at an economy of 4.25.
