Verstappen went on to dominate the race from the front while Ricciardo retired with a hydraulics failure as he was running in second place with ten laps remaining.

He was also the victor of this race when Hamilton clinched his fourth world title in 2017.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has praised their engine supplier Renault for the engine they delivered, as Red Bull driver Max Verstappen emerged victorious with quite a big margin in Mexico.

"I don't even think frustration is the word anymore", said Ricciardo.
