Putin said at an worldwide policy forum in Sochi on Thursday that the USA sanctions against companies that engage in trade with Iran would spur the creation of payment systems that don't depend on the dollar. He said Moscow only would tap its nuclear arsenal if early warning systems spotted missiles heading toward Russian Federation, in which case "the aggressor should know that retaliation is inevitable".

Vladimir Putin has said Russian Federation will deploy new state-of-the-art missiles "within months", putting the country ahead of its rivals in the West.

"But there is a place for real heroism in today's life", he said.
