Samsung launches A9 smartphone with four cameras for the 'Instagram generation'

Moving on to the main attraction, the rear of this smartphone features four camera sensors round the back, as you can see in the pictures. The Huawei P20 Pro still has the best camera among any phone as per DxOMark, and that's all due to the impressive triple camera setup and the image processing.

On that note, and as these things usually go, it looks like we'll only find out further details down the road. The biggest highlight of the smartphone is its quad rear camera setup - with four separate cameras.

Well, the Samsung Galaxy A9 has been designed for the "Instagram generation".

The A9 also boasts a sleek and ergonomic design that fits in one hand with a curved back made of 3D glass for a luxurious comfortable feel, the company said.

Google introduced the new Pixel 3 mobile
In terms of design, both phones employ a metal frame with glass fronts and backs - these are required to enable wireless charging. But Google probably had a single-cam experience in mind for the Pixel 3 years ago, when it started designing the Pixel 3 camera.

There's a rear fingerprint scanner too, plus a headphone jack and USB-C port on the base of the A9. The listing on Geekbench reiterates the presence of the Snapdragon 660 SoC with 6 GB RAM. It is a dual-SIM phone with a dedicated microSD card slot. The storage is expandable up to 512GB.

"In an exciting and connected world where moments and memories, from the everyday to the once-in-a-lifetime, are captured and shared instantly, the smartphone has become so much more than just a phone to consumers".

It's unclear whether the quad camera array will eventually make its way to the more expensive Samsung models, but it's already managed to grant the A9 the level of attention that Samsung's flagship devices usually enjoy. The handset is equipped with a 24MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture. The second sensor is a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, f/2.4 aperture and 10-megapixel resolution. Whether you're trying to capture something in bright or low light conditions, the Lens adjusts accordingly to bring your subject into focus. It will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and will available for €599 / $700 in Europe.

Galaxy A9 arrives in three colours; Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink. The pricing is also expected to be announced closer to the launch date.
