Saudi Arabia said it rejects political and economic threats, adding it will retaliate to any action with a bigger one.

The Jordanian government also affirmed the Kingdom's central role in consolidating security, stability and peace and enhancing economic cooperation both regionally and globally.

Khashoggi, a U.S. resident and Washington Post columnist critical of Riyadh's policies, disappeared on October 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Saudi Arabia on Sunday warned against threats to punish it over last week's disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, as European leaders piled on pressure and two more US executives scrapped plans to attend a Saudi investor conference.

The comments came as the Saudi stock market continued to plunge on Sunday. A decision by Mnuchin not to attend would be a rebuke by the Trump administration of the Saudis, although whether it would be accompanied by other punishments is not clear.

Even as Washington and Riyadh threaten penalties against each other in the case of the missing Washington Post columnist, a prominent critic of his country's rulers, there seems to be little appetite behind the scenes to push for confrontation.

But Trump, who has frequently boasted about his business ties with the kingdom, suggested during the interview that ending US arms sales to Saudi Arabia would not be an option, saying, "I don't want to hurt jobs".

But the president has also said "we would be punishing ourselves" by canceling arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

Prince Harry and Meghan arrive in Sydney for official visit
The pair will then travel to Fiji and Tonga, before another day in Sydney, and will end their tour with four days in New Zealand. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at Sydney Airport at about 7am on Monday morning on a Qantas flight from London.

"We encourage joint Saudi-Turkish efforts in that regard, and expect the Saudi Government to provide a complete and detailed response", said Jeremy Hunt, Jean-Yves Le Drian and Heiko Maas. Saudi officials have denied the allegations.

European nations are pressuring Saudi Arabia to give a response to the missing Saudi journalist.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has aggressively pitched the kingdom as a destination for foreign investment.

The king also said Turkey and Saudi Arabia enjoy close relations and "that no one will get to undermine the strength of this relationship", according to a statement on the Saudi Press Agency.

President Trump warned the USA would inflict "severe punishment" if Saudi Arabia was behind his disappearance.

On Friday, media reports noted that Future Investment Initiative's high-profile media sponsors, including the Financial Times, CNBC, The New York Times, CNN and Bloomberg, had withdrawn from the event in the wake of Khashoggi's alleged murder.

Turkey has yet to publish any evidence of him being killed, though surveillance footage around the consulate shows a convoy of vehicles with diplomatic plates leaving the Saudi Consulate for the consul's home in Istanbul a little under two hours after Mr Khashoggi's arrival. The sales are a "tremendous order for our companies", and if the Saudis don't buy their weaponry from the US, they will get it from others, he said.

Stocks have dropped as much as 9 percent since Khashoggi disappeared on 2 October after walking into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. "I don't think any of our government officials should be going and pretending it's business as usual until we know what's happened here". The Florida lawmaker added that the USA can not allow an ally to carry out human rights abuses while calling out foes like Russian Federation and Syria for their crimes. "Obviously, we have a long-standing partnership with Saudi Arabia in a lot of areas".
