Spurs' Murray diagnosed with torn right ACL

The San Antonio Spurs are having a rough holiday weekend.

As reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the San Antonio Spurs received tough news on Tuesday with regards to starting point guard Dejounte Murray. Last week, rookie first-round pick Lonnie Walker IV went down with an injury that was later diagnosed as a torn meniscus. The Spurs' medical staff brought a wheelchair onto the court to cart Murray into the locker room, but he waved them off and walked to the back under his own power as the AT&T Center broke into applause. "You just feel for him because he's worked so hard to be ready for this season". Entering his third season, Murray was a strong candidate to have a breakout season for the Spurs after taking over the starting job from Tony Parker midway through last season.

Dejounte Murray suffered his injury on Sunday against the Rockets.

Some roads near the refinery remained closed Monday afternoon, but no evacuations were ordered for residents living nearby. Saint John police responded Monday morning, and they advised residents to avoid the area .

Coach Gregg Popovich told reporters no starter has been determined yet, but he did discuss the role second-year guard Derrick White could play going forward. The Spurs announced he would undergo surgery in San Antonio on Monday with team physician Dr. David Schmidt performing the procedure.

Murray was the youngest player in National Basketball Association history to ever be named to an All-Defensive team last season.
