Saudi Arabia rejects Turkey’s extradition request in Khashoggi killing

Saudi Arabia's chief prosecutor met with his Turkish counterpart in Istanbul on Monday to discuss the investigation into the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Turkish officials, however, said they believed he was killed inside by a team sent from Saudi Arabia.

Turkish officials have said that the agents dismembered Khashoggi with a bone saw in order to dispose of the body, as part of a premeditated assassination.

Turkey says a trial in Turkey would be transparent, reflecting concerns about Saudi attempts to dodge responsibility for the killing.

"The investigation should be concluded as soon as possible", Cavusoglu said. "The whole world is curious".

Under mounting global pressure, the kingdom again changed its narrative about Khashoggi's killing, acknowledging in recent days that it was "premeditated", citing information from Turkey as part of a joint investigation.

"Speaking to traveling reporters, Mattis further said, "(There was) full agreement from foreign minister Jubeir, no reservations at all, he said we need to know what happened and it was very collaborative, in agreement", according to Al Jazeera.

The 38-year-old pitcher was pulled by Roberts with one out and a runner on in the seventh inning after six scoreless innings. Roberts said after the game that he had made a decision to pull Hill after a conversation with the pitcher.

The killing has tainted the image of Prince Mohammed, who has positioned himself as a Saudi reformer, and tested ties between Washington and Riyadh as Western powers demand answers over Mr Khashoggi's death.

Khashoggi, a onetime Saudi insider and US resident who lived in self-imposed exile for nearly a year before his death, had written critically of the crown prince in columns for the Washington Post.

Mojeb arrived in Istanbul early Monday and is expected to inspect the Saudi consulate where Khashoggi was killed. London, however, urged Saudi officials to abort the plan. The sweep, described by Prince Mohammed bin Salman and his backers as an anti-corruption drive, helped the new crown prince consolidate his power and weaken potential rivals.

Turkish prosecutors at the meeting, which lasted slightly over an hour, repeated Ankara's request that 18 suspects be brought to Turkey and that the location of Khashoggi's body be revealed, it said.

He said: "When I asked him why he was anxious, he didn't really want to reply, but eventually he told me he was getting proof that Saudi Arabia had used chemical weapons".

Khashoggi, known for his criticism of Saudi policies, had been working as a columnist for The Washington Post.

"We will continue to campaign for truth and accountability for his horrific murder, by those who planned, ordered and executed it", said Kumi Naidoo, secretary general of Amnesty International, which released the video.
