Windows 10 users may soon uninstall more native apps

Removing junk from Windows 10 now involves using PowerShell to do so, or a third party-app like Geek Uninstaller.

Today, Microsoft is rolling out Windows 10 Build 18262 to the Windows Insiders in the Fast and Skip Ahead rings.

Only days after releasing its latest feature update to Windows 10, Microsoft abruptly stopped the rollout and pulled the new version from its download servers as it investigates "isolated reports" of a data-destroying bug.

Build 17763.104 contains a handful of fixes, including incorrect details shown in the Task Manager under "processes", applications becoming unresponsive after Connected Standby, driver compatibility problems and issues with antivirus and virtualization programs.

The buggy HP driver issue was triggered after users installed the first cumulative update for version 1809, which itself was created to fix an issue causing it to delete user profiles in certain circumstances.

This will be a significant change for Microsoft, which has previously considered all its apps to be core parts of the operating system.

To uninstall these apps, you can right-click on either the tile or entry in the app list.

If you install any of the recent builds from the Fast ring and switch to the Slow ring - optional content such as enabling developer mode will fail.

Some users may have an issue launching Inbox Apps after updating. The full changelog can be found over on Microsoft's announcement blog. While it's expected that minor bugs might crop up with a major software update, no one was prepared for the file deletion fiasco that struck soon after the update was made available to the public.
