Netflix orders live-action Cowboy Bebop TV series

A live-action adaptation of the beloved anime Cowboy Bebop is coming to Netflix. It had announced development of the show back in June, and as the company said then, Chris Yost (Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok and Max Steel) will write the first episode. In the original, these misadventures covered a wide range of genres - action, comedy, sci-fi, detective capers, you name it - while drawing heavily from western movie imagery. The original series is a jazz-inspired, genre-bending story that follows a group of rag-tag bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system's most unsafe criminals.

With Netflix's track record in the dredges, fans are nervous to see how Cowboy Bebop will be handled, but the 10-episode series does have a promising crew in place so far. "They'll even save the world... for the right price". A Cowboy Bebop movie also came out in 2001, and Keanu Reeves was attached to a live-action movie adaptation at one point, but it never came to fruition. Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio will handle showrunning and executive producer duties.

The original Cowboy Bebop featured 26 episode and aired in Japan from 1998 through 1999. A late-night Twitter post revealed Cowboy Bebop will be making a special comeback, and fans were quick to react to the announcement.
