Latest iPad Pro rivals the 2018 MacBook Pro in Geekbench

Powered by the octa-core 7nm Apple A12X Bionic chip with 64-bit architecture, Neural Engine, and embedded M12 coprocessor it was claimed that the newest redesigned iPad Pro models were "faster than 92 per cent of portable PCs", and delivered graphics "on a par with the Xbox One S".

A handful of the new A12X iPads on Geekbench clock up a single-core score of around 5,000 and a multi-core score of about 18,000.

Like previous iPad Pros, the new devices come in two sizes - 11-inch ($800) and 12.9-inch ($1,000) screen models, measured on the diagonal - the larger of which is about the size of an 8.5-by-11 sheet of paper. The MacBook Pro, which starts at $2,799, has scores of around 5,000 and 20,000, respectively.

The 11-inch and 12.9-inch models are available for pre-order today and will be available to purchase from November 7.

The single-core score of the Retina MacBook Air surpasses all 12-inch MacBooks (3500 to 3900 depending on chip) and is within reach of base 2017 and 2018 MacBook Pro models (4300 to 4500).

With the home button out of the way, Apple trimmed the iPad Pro's margins to make it slightly smaller and more comfortable in your hands. Apple, however, did not update the 12-inch MacBooks, so they're not getting any of Intel's 2018 processors. Here are the critical details that professionals need to know about the iPad Pro 2018.
