Following the dire announcement of Diablo Immortal - a mobile-only release that absolutely nobody asked for - it was only a matter of time before news broke regarding a new core Diablo game. Now, multiple sources have come forward to share the story of Diablo 4's development and why it seems to be further behind than others had hoped. Back in January, Blizzard seemed set on announcing Diablo 4 this year. It's an open secret in the industry, but there's still very little that's actually known about the demon-slaying RPG.

It's important to note that games often change and Diablo 4 is still in throes of development. On top of that, he used to be part of the World of Warcraft team. Diablo IV is being designed with a new mantra in mind: Embrace the darkness. Speculation says this could make the hub cities in Diablo more like that of the Tower in Destiny where players cannot only pick up quests from NPCs but join up for missions and generally mess about with one another.

There's a lot of people who felt like Diablo III got away from what made Diablo 'Diablo' in terms of art style and spell effects.

"They want to make this gross, make it dark, [remove] anything that was considered cartoony in Diablo 3... Make what people were afraid of in Diablo II, but modern", one employee told Kotaku.

Kyrie Irving: 'I don't Celebrate Thanksgiving. F*ck Thanksgiving'
When millions of Americans sit down on Thursday afternoon to celebrate Thanksgiving, Kyrie Irving will not be one of them. Irving met with the media after the New York Knicks beat the Celtics at the Garden, 117-109 Wednesday night.

Next came "Fenris", which is the project now looking like it'll be Diablo IV.

This version of Diablo 4 is still in early development and likely won't be out for a couple more years, if not longer.

According to sources to Kotaku, a lot of Blizzard's developers love the Niantic game, so it's only was only natural that the next step was to make a game that's similar in nature. The report says it's now going isometric with a Diablo II-ish gritty look, but this too may change and... you get the picture. When speaking about if there would be a "strike" equivalent in Fenris, one person familiar with the project said, "What if we still had a core Diablo game that just happened to have a bunch of people on the map to do other cool stuff?" Whether that approach is something that fans will want to see, may be a point of contention.
