Trump called Bolsonaro to wish him good luck, auguring closer political ties between the two largest economies in the Americas - both now led by conservative populists promising to overturn the political establishment. However, his praise of Brazil's former dictatorship and his comments on race, women and homosexuality have raised concern.

Bolsonaro has hired one of the top financial advisors in Brazil to craft his policies. According to the association, the sector needs a ministry of its own.

Earlier in the day, Environment Minister Edson Duarte said in a statement that he was surprised and concerned by the announcement about plans to combine the agriculture and environmental portfolios. "He has little experience if at all with macroeconomic issues of the size and importance that Brazil faces".

The Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) warned of a new political period in Brazil, with Bolsonaro's presidency marking a threat to democracy and the rights of the people.

"The country is at war", he said late Monday, October 29, in his first interview as president-elect, vowing to lower the minimum age for firearm permits from 25 to 21 and eliminate red tape for gun ownership.

"Weapons manufacturers have done better on the expectation that, one, he's going to be tougher on crime and, two, one of his campaign promises was to allow people to arm themselves to fight crime", said Jorge Mariscal, emerging markets chief investment officer for UBS Global Wealth Management.

On the sidelines of Shanghai forum, the prime minister will hold meetings with other world leaders as well as the leaders of Chinese financial and corporate sector.

In a 2013 interview with British television personality Stephen Fry, Bolsonaro said that "Brazilian society doesn't like homosexuals" and claimed that gays were brainwashing heterosexual children to "become gays and lesbians to satisfy them sexually in the future".

The far-right president-elect was swept to victory Sunday on a wave of anti-establishment outrage fueled in part by Moro's investigation into the large-scale looting of state oil company Petrobras, which has landed a laundry list of corrupt politicians and business executives in jail.

Moro said he was "honored" and would consider any formal offer - likely to fuel accusations that his investigation is politically motivated.

"We want to continue to be able to work with them, and we'll see what happens from there", she said.

Lula himself was barred from running because he is serving a 12-year prison sentence for corruption.

May Boeve, executive director at climate NGO 350.org, warned that a Bolsonaro presidency posed "a real threat to human rights at home and a risk to the momentum for climate action overseas".
