Violence between Muslims and Christians in central Nigeria has forced the Prince of Wales to abandon plans to visit a city in the region.

The Prince of Wales and heir to the British throne, Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, have arrived in Abuja.

He is also expected to discuss practical solutions to alleviating the tensions arising from the activities of herdsmen.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said: "We've arranged an interesting and engaging programme on Thursday in Abuja, which will include showcasing alternative livelihoods focusing on poultry and Acha supergrain, water aid and a peacebuilding discussion with youth peace ambassadors".

He made this demand during a closed door meeting with Prince Charles at the United Kingdom high commissioner's residence in Maitama, Abuja on Tuesday, November 6.

"The decision was taken upon advice from the Nigerian Government and others involved in security and operational aspects of the visit".

Venezuela Sitting on 2nd Biggest Gold Reserve on Earth — Maduro
The country's gold reserves have fallen to about 400 tons from 575 tons and it appears the government is considering selling more. In 2011, Venezuelan socialist leader Hugo Chavez repatriated almost 160 tons of gold from the U.S. and some European countries.

It has always been a hotbed of ethnic, sectarian and religious tensions that flare up during election season.

The statement read, "The British leader to counsel President Buhari not to attempt to rig the 2019 Presidential election but be ready to accept his imminent defeat in the polls, since it is clear that Nigerians have rejected him because of his incompetence and his administration's apparent disdain for their safety and wellbeing".

In company of the Prince who last visited the country in 2006 during President Olusegun Obasanjo tenure was the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright.

The couple were received at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello.

They did not address reporters at the end of the meeting.
