VIDEO: Punches Thrown and Sidelines Emptied in Ole Miss-Miss St Brawl

Ole Miss defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff has lost his job just one day after the Rebels were throttled by the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the Egg Bowl 35-3.

The whole mess was made even more absurd because A.J. Brown's touchdown run was recalled because referees determined that the clock expired before the snap.

Mississippi State held the Rebels to a total of 189 yards of offense and the Bulldogs gained 420 yards of offense. After his team demolished the Ole Miss Rebels in a game raging with emotions, Moorhead openly defended his players during a postgame scuffle as an Ole Miss deputy athletic director was apparently acting as an agitator in the situation. Mississippi State answered with the final score of the half on a nine-yard pass from Fitzgerald to Deddrick Thomas.

Mississippi State head coach Joe Moorhead admitted the fight was unedifying but insisted it would not take the gloss off a resounding win against his team's local rivals.

Ole Miss coach Matt Luke also acknowledged the brawl was unfortunate.

Jokanovic added: "We have been on an exciting journey together". - Jokanovic has twice left clubs after gaining promotion to the Premier League.

"Hate for our seniors to go out this way because they have been through so much, " he said.

Mississippi State scored the only score of the first quarter on a six-yard scamper by running back Kylin Hill.

Ole Miss got no such literal or figurative breaks this year. Now, Ole Miss will try to prepare for the 2019 season without several of their main offensive stars, including Ta'amu. "We've got to piece together everything as a group and move on to the future". Mississippi State is 8-4 and waiting to see who it will play in a bowl game.

Ole Miss' season is over.
