In Northern California, the Camp Fire advanced rapidly to the outskirts of the city of Chico early on Friday, forcing thousands to flee after it left the nearby town of Paradise in ruins, California fire officials said.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office said the victims were found in the same area in Paradise, a town that has been destroyed by the flames.

Cal Fire's Bill Murphy says winds have calmed down in the valley but that there are "shifting, erratic winds" with speeds of up to 45mph (72 km/h) along ridge tops.

Red Flad Warnings, the highest level fire alert, were issued by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) across southern California from Los Angeles to San Diego. When those evacuations come, you have to go.

Authorities were forced to shut down the 101, a major north-south artery, as well as the Pacific Coast Highway. About 15,000 structures are threatened, but the number of structures destroyed is not known.

The Woolsey Fire broke out on Thursday and quickly jumped the 101 Freeway toward Malibu.

Thousand Oaks was also the scene of a mass shooting late Wednesday at a nightclub where 11 civilians and a sheriff's sergeant were killed.

Thousand Oaks is a 30-minute drive north of Malibu.

No injuries have been reported in either fire.

In Southern California, some 75,000 homes were ordered evacuated in Ventura and Los Angeles counties, with the Los Angeles County Fire Department tweeting: "imminent threat".

The second blaze, the Hill Fire, ignited around the same time Thursday in the Santa Rosa Valley area of Ventura County, northwest of Thousand Oaks, and has since grown to 6,100 acres. Southern California Edison said it has no indication for the cause of the fire in Ventura, spokesman Robert Laffoon-Villegas said in an emailed statement. Authorities wound up closing the road to all northbound traffic out of Santa Monica, allowing southbound motorists to use all four lanes.

Malibu is one of the most in-demand locations in California for Hollywood stars seeking privacy and luxury, and has been home to Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Charlize Theron, Brad Pitt and a host of other celebrities.

Current and former residents include Barbra Streisand, Cher, Tom Hanks, Judd Apatow and Britney Spears.

Milano, a leading force in the #MeToo social movement against sexual harassment, asked for help getting five horses out of the area. According to Earther, "the nine worst fires the state have seen all burned at least 1,000 buildings, with the top three topping 2,000". "I took my kids, dogs, computer and my Doc Marten boots", the actress tweeted.

National Park Service officials reported the famed Western Town at Paramount Ranch, a filming location for hundreds of TV and movie productions, including HBO's "Westworld, " had burned to an unknown extent.
