A British supermarket chain said on Friday their Christmas advert has been banned for being too political because it shows palm oil manufacturers terrorizing orangutans.

Iceland's emotional Christmas advertisement featuring a cartoon orang-utan has been banned from television for being "too political" - a vetting body says it can not clear the Greenpeace-made film which highlights the plight of the orang-utan because it breaches guidelines.

A fifth shared: "I don't shop at Iceland but it's bad to think that this advert was banned simply because they aim to remove palm oil ingredients from their products".

The colours fade to black and white and show bulldozers flattening trees and chasing Rang-Tan and her mother.

You were getting so weighed down with Christmas sandwiches, pumpkin spice lattes and Primark jumpers that you forgot all about palm oil consumption.

It follows the company's pledge to remove palm oil from its shelves and was meant to "improve shoppers' understanding" of the issue, with palm oil appearing in more than half of all supermarket products.

The orangutan explains their home is being cut down and burnt for palm oil so they thought they'd live with the young girl.

Sports News, Mets make changes to coaching staff
Minaya, Ricco and Ricciardi ran the front office last summer after GM Sandy Alderson stepped aside to focus on his health. Bones had been the Mets' bullpen coach since 2012, when he arrived as part of a shakeup to manager Terry Collins' staff.

Iceland had wanted to make the Emma Thompson-voiced film, Rang-tan, central to its festive marketing campaign to raise awareness among shoppers.

"It's been banned, so you're not going to see it on TV", he told the BBC.

"Whilst our advert sadly never made it to TV screens, we are hopeful that consumers will take to social media to view the film, which raises awareness of an important global issue".

"Clearcast and the broadcasters have to date been unable to clear this Iceland ad because we concerned that it doesn't comply with the political rules of the BCAP code", said a spokeswoman for Clearcast.

"The creative submitted to us is linked to another organization who have not yet been able to demonstrate compliance in this area", Clearcast wrote in a statement.

Iceland's new advert has been banned before being aired on TV because it is "too political".
