DeepMind’s Health Business Is Moving Over To Google

Google recently brought in David Feinberg to lead the new Google Health group, with the goal of organizing Alphabet's health efforts and enhancing collaborations across its subsidiaries. It also raised questions about the basis under which the London hospital which had been piloting the device had shared its data with Google DeepMind.

While announcing the new reshuffling, DeepMind also revealed that it has acquired a university spinout company who has developed a clinical task management app called Hark to continue its work in the United Kingdom healthcare sector. Apart from medical research, it is also not known if any of the work done by these divisions will make it to consumer-facing services, which include the likes of Google Fit. It will now be controlled by parent company Google, DeepMind's founders announced in a blog post.

Alphabet's artificial intelligence arm DeepMind revealed plans on November 13 to bring its health business into Google's newly formed health unit, which will be led by the former CEO of Danville, Pa. -based Geisinger, David Feinberg, MD, CNBC reports. The whole Streams app is now a Google product.

However, many experts have criticised the company for its "brazen deception".

Powles told The Guardian that Google's position that it would process patients' data without associating them with Google "accounts, products or services" amounted to "sleight of hand".

'Black Panther's Chadwick Boseman Plays a Beautiful Tribute to Stan Lee
This is a lovely sentiment considering Joan Boocock Lee also passed away past year at the age of 95. And then I get a letter from a fan or I read something or I see something or I remember something.

'Today, it exposed this as a lie.

"Each of our partnerships have strict rules about how data can be used". "The research team at DeepMind will continue to lead the way in applying AI to important fundamental research questions in science and medicine". "The move to Google does not affect this". At least 10 United Kingdom hospitals have signed deals to use the app.

The Royal Free NHS Trust did not comply with the Data Protection Act when it passed on personal information of around 1.6 million patients, a British data protection watchdog found.

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) said it found "a number of shortcomings" in the way the data was handled, including that patients were not adequately informed their data would be used as part of the test.
