"And now it's time to get to work", Sinema said in a victory speech Monday night.

In the wake of Sinema's lead, some conservatives-including the President himself-have taken to Twitter to accuse the state of "electoral corruption" because of mismatched signatures on mail-in ballots, offering no concrete evidence.

Sinema spoke to reporters at a Scottsdale hotel and declared victory. "I just called Kyrsten Sinema and congratulated her on becoming Arizona's first female senator after a hard-fought battle", McSally said in the video, her pet golden retriever by her side.

Sinema ran as a nonpartisan centrist. She cited the example of John McCain, who died in August.

The race dragged into overtime because of its narrow margins and Arizona's traditionally slow pace of counting votes. McSally unsuccessfully tried to paint her as a liberal Democrat. But Sinema piled up an insurmountable lead over McSally.

Democrat Kyrsten Sinema has defeated Republican Martha McSally to win the Arizona Senate race, the Associated Press projected Monday evening.

Tyler, who was watching from the side of the stage, waved his finger and shook his head in denial. Jaden also hit up his Twitter page to confirm the big revelation.

There are still almost 220,000 votes left to be counted, and a new batch will be released Monday evening. Her win cemented Arizona as a swing state after years of Republican dominance.

Nearly a week later, a victor still has not been officially declared; however, Sinema is maintaining her lead of about 32,000 votes (some 1.5%) in the polls over McSally.

Sinema attacked McSally's leadership of last year's failed Affordable Care Act repeal effort as a sign that she would not protect Arizona residents with preexisting medical conditions.

Sinema made history in 2012 when she became the nation's first openly bisexual member of Congress.

Flake tweeted congratulations to Sinema "on a race well run, and won", adding "You'll be great".
