England vs Croatia: Harry Kane responds to Dejan Lovren's taunts

The Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has been revealed what he feels was the key turning point in the Reds' ultimately fruitless attempt at taking the Champions League trophy back to Merseyside from Kiev last May.

Lovren has since been critical of the Real Madrid star saying earlier this month (via Sport English), "If you look, Ramos, he has many more mistakes than me but he's at Real Madrid".

Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic plans to speak privately with Dejan Lovren after the Liverpool defender's unsavoury comments about Sergio Ramos on social media.

Harry Kane has moved to play down any animosity between England and Croatia - and particularly Dejan Lovren - ahead of their crunch UEFA Nations League match on Sunday. "He's an excellent defender, he's young and yet he's won a lot".

"His way of defending is different because he tries to avoid being in situations where he has to intervene and tackle".

Ramos has found himself in an ongoing war of words with Liverpool star Dejan Lovren, with the 29-year-old Croatian centre-back initially criticising the Spain global and captain for making more mistakes than him.

Ramos then appeared to foul Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius and later touched Salah on his injured shoulder at an awards ceremony.

"I do not know if it was deliberate but mentally something changed when Salah came off", he added.

"Suddenly Marcelo, Benzema and Ronaldo all focussed on our young right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and left the entire right side open. With Salah on the pitch they wouldn'rt have dared to do that", he explained.

Asked about Lovren's warning, Kane said: 'I don't think it's a threat, I just think they are going to want to win the match as much as we are.
