Roger Federer secured the 99th ATP title of his career after defeating Marius Copil in straight sets to clinch the Swiss Indoors crown.

The top seed claimed his ninth trophy at his home event as he overcame an inspired opponent who took the lead early in each set but was pegged back by the 20-time Grand Slam champion.

Federer also revealed an anecdote regarding him and Rafael Nadal: 'In the old days it was amusing with Rafa, he always chose return and I went for the serve, then when they tossed the coin we just looked at each other and thought, yeah it's ok.' Federer has now won 32 titles after turning 30.

He closed out the victory in one hour, 34 minutes to remain just one shy of century titles. "It's been a major week for me in terms of records". "It was dream run for me", Federer said. That's what I need if I want to do well in London, to do my best there.
