Former LSU football coach Les Miles hired at Kansas

Sports Illustrated's Ros Dellenger is reporting Miles has agreed to become Jayhawks' new coach. The 65-year-old Miles has a close relationship with Kansas athletic director Jeff Long dating to their days together at MI, and Miles had told those around him this season that he wanted back in coaching. The reasons leading to Miles' dismissal create doubt about his ability to succeed at one of the toughest Power 5 jobs. Miles was heavily criticized during his final years at LSU for failing to properly adapt his offenses to stay ahead in the SEC West - something that Miles has adamantly said he would rectify if given another chance to coach. But he's now leading a Kansas program that, since its Orange Bowl breakthrough in 2007, has the worst record of any FBS program (31-101). The school fired Miles four games into the 2016 season, when LSU was 2-2. A person familiar with the decision tells the Associated Press that Kansas has hired ex-LSU coach Miles to lead Jayhawks football program.

Miles enters a program that has tallied 10-straight losing seasons.

Miles, who turned 65 on November 10, was 142-55 in 16 years as the head coach at LSU and Oklahoma State.

Little, being held in the Wise County jail, was suspected of a cold case murder in that county as well but denied involvement. Little's number would even top John Wayne Gacy, guilty of killing at least 33 boys and young men in the 1970s.

That would be considered a monumental success at Kansas.

The Jayhawks were woefully short on scholarship players, their facilities were decrepit, their fanbase had grown apathetic and the even the administration seemed to have little interest in supporting football.

"His national reputation as a great recruiter and as a coach who student-athletes love playing for will enable us to break the cycle and return a winning tradition to the Kansas Jayhawks".
