John Elway (2004), tackle Gary Zimmerman (2008), running back Floyd Little (2010), tight end Shannon Sharpe (2011) and running back Terrell Davis (2017) now represent the Broncos in the Hall of Fame.

Several former Steelers took the next step toward football immortality when the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the semifinalists for the Class of 2019. He'll be joined by Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed and Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey, among others.

The list also includes two other first-time semifinalists who have previously been nominated, but had not survived the initial cut in former National Football League coach Tom Flores and former Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas. Both Thomas and Flores have been eligible for the Hall of Fame in previous years. Atwater has been a semifinalist eight times, while Lynch has been named a semifinalist seven times. Other notable semifinalists include tight end Tony Gonzalez, offensive tackle Tony Boselli, coach Jimmy Johnson, receiver Hines Ward and linebacker Clay Matthews Jr., the father of the Packers linebacker.

On Jan. 3, the Hall of Fame selection committee will be asked to trim the semifinalists list down to 15 finalists. Once that happens, no more than five of the finalists from the Modern-Era will be eligible to be inducted in 2019. The selection meeting will be February 2, the day before the Super Bowl, in Atlanta.
