Gordon Hayward got a cold reception in Utah.

Friday night is a big one for Gordon Hayward, as the Boston Celtics travel to Utah to take on the Jazz. "It was good to see just the people walking in, see some of the people around the arena, the staff over there and some of the players". This troll job seemed genuine, though.

The Celtics (7-5) were coming off a late overtime win at Phoenix on Thursday night on the fourth stop of a five-game road trip as Hayward is still under a strict restriction in the 23-26 minute range after badly injuring his left ankle in the season opener and missing all of a year ago. Boston will look to right the ship Sunday night when it wraps up its five-game western road trip against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Utah opened the third quarter on a 17-6 run. The Celtics gave up a season-high 35 points to the Jazz in the third quarter.

Jazz fans booed every move of Hayward, who left Utah for Boston via free agency before the start of last season.

He survived the Thousand Oaks shooting and the Las Vegas massacre
Last year, a country music festival in Las Vegas was the scene of the worst mass shooting in modern United States history. He touched so many people, his father said. "I am in the dark right now, and it's actually tearing me up", he said.

"It was fun", said Hayward, who ended with 13 points and seven assists on 3-for-9 shooting in 25 minutes.

Terry Rozier scored a season-high 22 points, making his first start in place of Irving, and Jayson Tatum added 21 for the Celtics. Ingles accounted for the first three long-distance baskets, highlighting a 20-point first half for him. He averaged 15.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists for Utah, but took the hostile reaction from Jazz fans in stride.

Donovan Mitchell had 21 points while former Celtic Jae Crowder scored 20 points, and Ricky Rubio added 17 as the Jazz won consecutive games after losing four in a row. Utah finished with 45-28 advantage on rebounds against Boston. The boos rained down when Hayward picked up a rebound.

"As good as we were defensively in the first nine games, I don't think we've been as good the last three", coach Brad Stevens said. "He's still on a minutes restriction".
