Personnel at the store called police and attempted to intervene but the woman died. The man wanted to get back together while the woman did not, the woman's roommate, Scotty Ballard, told the newspaper.

An argument Saturday at a Florida Walmart garden center ended when a woman was fatally shot several time.

The suspect, a 55-year-old black male, was transported to a local hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot and is in cust of Ocala Police Department, according to a post on Twitter.

That's when the shots were fired, the Ocala police said.

Just before 3 p.m., the woman was taken into an ambulance outside the store, 4980 E. Silver Springs Blvd., and taken to a hospital.
