May's Brexit Deal is Fatally Flawed - Former UK Brexit Minister

"We've got the draft withdrawal agreement, there might be some tweaks to that and I hope there will be".

On Thursday, four ministers resigned over the draft Brexit withdrawal agreement, MPs said it had no chance of getting through parliament, and Brexiteers began submitting their no-confidence letters.

May has vowed to fight on, but with both pro-EU and pro-Brexit lawmakers unhappy with the draft agreement, it is not clear she will be able to win the backing of parliament for it, raising the risk Britain leaves the European Union without a deal.

There is also doubt over whether it can win the approval of the House of Commons, with opposition parties - including Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party - opposing it. Aides to some pro-Brexit cabinet ministers have hinted that they wish to change the agreement before it is signed off.

"A change of leadership at this point isn't going to make the negotiations any easier and it isn't going to change the parliamentary arithmetic", she told Sky News.

Asked by Ridge whether she had considered stepping down, May said: "No, I haven't".

May said negotiations were continuing and she meant to go to Brussels and meet European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

Stephen Barclay has been appointed as the new Brexit Secretary, the third this year, but the role has been further downgraded as the Prime Minister will in future take sole control of negotiations on the European Union withdrawal.

She also said she would be meeting European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels ahead of the summit.

"If it comes to a confidence vote, she will have mine".

Asked about the actions of Tory Brexiteers, Ms James, who is digital minister said: "I think it's beneath contempt".

"Graham Brady will make it known if 48 letters are reached, Graham Brady will make it known".

Amber Rudd returns to Cabinet as Work and Pensions Secretary
Former home secretary Amber Rudd is set to return to the cabinet as work and pensions secretary , according to reports. Ms Rudd quit as home secretary in April amid controversy over her handling of the Windrush controversy.

It is hard to see how the 25 November EU summit could go ahead if Theresa May were to lose a confidence vote in the next few days.

May could yet face a vote of no confidence from her own MPs.

The Prime Minister's top team has reportedly threatened to walk out en masse if changes are not made to her current Brexit plan.

Why did Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab resign?

Her EU sherpa Olly Robbins has been discussing the political declaration on the future relationship with Mr Barnier's Article 50 task force.

"The important thing is that we're here for our constituents and as prime minister I'm here for the people of this country". "From the country's point of view, I think that's exactly the wrong way to go".

Why are people unhappy with the deal?

Tory MP Zac Goldsmith, the party's London mayoral candidate in 2016, has sent a letter.

Labour leader Mr Corbyn says his party, which has 257 MPs, will not support the deal. This is a time for pulling together, for making sure we remember who we are here to serve, who we are here to help: that's the whole of the country.

But she insisted there was no better option on the table and any alternative plans would still not conjure up a solution to keeping open the border with the Irish Republic.

May also said that a second referendum is not on the cards.

"I know that Gibraltar has no intention of being a back door, but instead a centre of high quality financial services", Mr Barclay said at the time. The withdrawal agreement states that a joint UK-EU panel will "before 1 July 2020, adopt a single decision extending the transition period up to [31 December 20XX]".
