Sources told CBS 2 Mike Ditka suffered a heart attack and is still in a hospital in Naples, Florida where he has a home.

The former coach of the Bears and New Orleans Saints had been playing golf Wednesday and complained of not feeling well, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

At 79 years old, this is Ditka's second heart attack; the last he suffered 30 years ago, in 1988.

He is a dark horse for the Heisman Trophy as he had thrown for 2,577 yards with 24 touchdowns and five interceptions this season. UCF has the nation's longest winning streak at 23 games and will host next week's American Athletic Conference championship game.

He played tight end for the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys from 1961 to 1972, racking up five Pro Bowl selections, four first-team All-Pro nods and a Super Bowl win.

"Mike Ditka had a minor heart attack", Mandell said in a statement obtained by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. During the 1988 season, he had a heart attack, just under the age of 50. While the Bears boast 28 Hall of Famers, Ditka is one of only 14 players to have his number retired. In 11 seasons, Ditka compiled a 112-68 record while leading the Bears to six NFC Central titles, three NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl XX victory. After Ditka's coaching career, he served as an analyst for NBC and ESPN.

Jarrett Payton, son of Bears great Walter Payton, tweeted that Ditka "is doing well".
