Jon Favreau's upcoming remake of The Lion King will bring back all your favorite characters from the Pride Lands - from Simba to Scar and everyone in between - and they'll all be getting the live-action treatment for what appears to be another dazzling adaptation of a Disney classic. Directed by Jon Favreau (Elf, Iron Man, The Jungle Book) from a script by Jeff Nathanson (not to mention the dozens of Disney story artists and animators who crafted the original characterizations and story), The Lion King will open in US theaters on July 19, 2019.
