NJ couple on way to their wedding killed in horrific Pennsylvania crash

Kearney was from Pittsburgh, where their wedding was set to take place last week.

A viewing will be held today for a New Jersey woman who was killed along with her fiancé in a auto crash last week in Pennsylvania.

Schurtz, daughter of former Fanwood Councilwoman Karen Schurtz, and Kathryn's fiance Joseph D. Kearney, died in a crash on Wednesday while driving to their wedding in Pittsburgh, according to the Facebook page for the municipal government of Fanwood, Union County.

Schurtz was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and grew up in Fanwood, New Jersey, NBC New York reports.

A tractor-trailer was going west when the trucker realized too late that traffic ahead was slowing for a construction zone, police said. The tractor-trailer slammed into the couple's auto causing a chain reaction crash that ultimately involved four other tractor-trailers in addition to the couple's vehicle, LehighValleyLive.com reported.

'She will be remembered for her voracious appetite for reading, love of cooking, and trailblazing new adventures with Joseph, ' it read.

Kathyrn Schurtz, 35, and Joseph Kearney, also 35, were killed in the accident.

"Our memories will help carry us through". Further information for Kearney wasn't immediately available.

A funeral mass for Schurtz will be held Tuesday in Scotch Plains, N.J.
