Arron Banks has said he regrets "unleashing the demons" of Brexit on the country in a controversial interview with Andrew Marr this morning.

Interviewed on BBC1's Andrew Marr Show, he attacked the "corruption" and "sewer" of politics and accused the government of "selling out" in talks with Brussels.

The money donated by Mr Banks and his businesses during the European Union referendum has become the subject of several conspiracy theories since the public's upset decision to vote for Brexit.

Arron Banks insisted his £8 million worth of support for the Leave.EU campaign he founded did not come from Russian Federation and was completely legal, after a probe into the funds was opened by the National Crime Agency (NCA) on the recommendation of the United Kingdom elections watchdog.

Pressed on The Andrew Marr Show on BBC One about the source of the money, he said: "The money came from Rock Services, which was..."

The Observer claimed on Sunday that staff at his Eldon Insurance business had worked for Leave.EU from its offices without declaring it.

Responding to the Sky interviewer's claim that the Electoral Commission is "an independent, democratic body" - in fact it is wholly appointed - Banks responded: "You say it's an independent Commission..."

"I know it's complex for journalists to understand but we know what this is about - it's about undermining Article 50 and the Brexit result", he added.
