Overusing antibiotics prescription for danger

Leading medics from across the United Kingdom have written to the Government calling for a ban on giving antibiotics to animals which aren't sick.

This would mean that even routine infections would be hard to treat, and it would be particularly risky for more complicated infections, especially in patients with chronic diseases.

However, gross overuse has led to the problem of antibiotic resistance, whereby bacteria change and build up a resistance to drugs that have been used over a long period of time and in great numbers.

"Antibiotics won't cure the common cold but taking them inappropriately could prevent you from getting better further down the line".

At the Canyon Health and Wellness Clinic, we are following the newest guidelines provided by the CDC for judicious use of antibiotic prescribing.

"Nothing less than global health security is at stake when antibiotics are misused".

This week [12-18 November] is World Antibiotic Awareness Week.

These audits have caused a decrease in the number of inappropriate usages of antibiotics.

It claimed common infections, such as chlamydia, will become killers without immediate solutions to the growing crisis.

A team of health-care professionals estimated that the antibiotic-resistance bacteria represent an issue that costs Canada $1 billion a year, draining health-care budgets and postponing the treatment of infections.

Pfizer, for example, created AMR surveillance tools that provide physicians and health communities in over 70 countries free access to critical data on the efficacy of various antibiotic treatments and emerging resistance patterns.

Blood Pressure Drug Recall
Patients are advised to speak to their physician or healthcare provider if they happen to take the recalled blood pressure drugs. Printable forms can be downloaded from www.fda.gov/MedWatch/getforms.htm or received by calling 1-800-332-1088.

Estimates suggest it will kill an extra 10 million people a year by 2050.

People are already dying of infections which were once easily curable - deaths in Europe tripled from 11,000 in 2007 to around 33,000 in 2015, according to separate research.

An important milestone will be the forthcoming European legislation on veterinary medicines and medicated feed, which lays down a wide range of concrete measures to fight antimicrobial resistance and to promote the prudent and responsible use of antimicrobials.

In September, the World Health Organization warned antibiotics are "running out" as a report found a "serious lack" of new drugs in the development pipeline.

Because of the use of antibiotics, deaths from infection plummeted and life expectancy increased. According to CDC research, almost 80 percent of Americans are prescribed at least one antibiotic each year, but half of those prescriptions are either unnecessary or ineffective.

Overusing antibiotics allows bacteria to develop resistance, and then such potentially deadly bacteria can rapidly multiply and spread. Only take antibiotics prescribed to you, and never share them, not even with family.

A Guardian investigation has even found MRSA which came from livestock in meat on a supermarket shelf.

The Alliance to Save Our Antibiotics co-ordinated the letter and had it signed by leading medical organisations.

However, the letter added that the government is refusing to accept that the legislation contains a clear ban on preventive group treatments.

The more bacteria adapted to antibiotics, the situation becomes threatening in the future.
