Rangers in India plan to use Calvin Klein Obsession in an attempt to catch an elusive "killer" tigress, who has killed 13 people over the last two years.

The Maharashtra forest department had to declare Avni as a "man-eater" after it found that the six-year-old tigress, along with two of her cubs, consumed 60 per cent of a human corpse in September 2018.

The search operation came after almost three months of a massive tigress-hunt along with trap cameras, drones, a pack of trained sniffer dogs and a hang-glider along with a team of forest department officials and spotters. The top court declined to overturn the shooting order, but said an attempt must first be made to tranquilize the tigress. They can be killed only if a state government determines the animal is unsafe to human life.

The perfume contains a pheromone called civetone that can attract big cats, according to experts.

"Avni was killed illegally satisfying a hunter's lust for blood, plain and simple, in possible contempt of court and in apparent violation of the Wildlife Protection Act and the guidelines of National Tiger Conservation Authority".

On the day the tigress died, the minister said a team of forest department officials had gone in search of the tigress and the nawab's son was part of the team.

A tiger that officials say killed 13 people was shot dead in central India over the weekend, igniting a firestorm of criticism from politicians and animal rights activists who said the killing was unnecessary. When the tiger turned and charged at the vehicle she was killed by a single gunshot, the forestry department said. There was no veterinarian present with the team at the time of the incident as mandated.

Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi on Sunday while hiting out at Maharashtra Environment and Forests minister over the killing of the "maneater" tigress Avni said it was a "straight case of crime"."It is nothing but a straight case of crime".

The Minister also came down heavily on Mungantiwar for giving order to private marksman Shafat Ali Khan's son to carry out the hunting operation.

Calling it a "ghastly murder", Gandhi added that the younger Ali Khan "was not authorized to kill". This is patently illegal. "Despite the forest officials being committed to tranquilise, capture and qurantine the tigress, the trigger-happy shooter has killed her on his own under orders of Mungantiwar", she tweeted.

Ashar said, "this matter must be investigated and treated as a wildlife crime". "The tranquilisation too had to be done carefully as we did not want to kill the tigress with an over-dose either", a senior official said.
