Sooner review Teddy Lehman breaks down OU-West Virginia

The defense created two turnovers and scored touchdowns on both of them to send the Sooners back to the Big 12 championship to take on Red River rival Texas next Saturday.

Murray finished 20 of 27 for 364 yards and converted a late fourth down to seal a matchup of Heisman Trophy hopefuls.

OU sealed the victory two plays later on a Murray 17-yard scamper for a first down. But Murray threw his second interception of the season and was outdueled by Texas sophomore Sam Ehlinger, who completed 24 of 35 passes for 315 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed 19 for 72 yards and three scores. As Oklahoma threatened to go ahead by two scores in the up and down contest, Robinson intercepted Kyler Murray in the end zone to thwart a potential sixth scoring drive in eight initial possessions for the Sooners. They were Oklahoma's first defensive touchdowns of the season.

Brown had 11 catches for 243 yards and two scores. "We fought hard and came up a little bit short", West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen said. Texas' 48-point output against Oklahoma led to Mike Stoops' dismissal, and things haven't gotten better for OU's defense since then.

Murray threw deep to Marquise Brown for a 65-yard gain to the WVU 1-yard line. Here it is in a downtrodden end of meaningful play in The Day After.

Heading into the Oklahoma State game, West Virginia's defense performed admirably.

In addition to six touchdowns and one field goal from the Sooners' offense, their defense added a pair of touchdowns on fumble returns.

By the time Israel Folau scored his and Australia's second try in stoppage time it was too little too late for the tourists. Against Australia , he was penalized, hitting lock Izack Rodda just as Rodda was about to go over the line for a try.

West Virginia ate up most of the rest of the half and scored on a one-yard touchdown run by Kennedy McKoy to cut OU's lead to 35-28 with 18 seconds left in the first half.

Start to the game.

The Longhorns had led 42-21 in the fourth quarter, but Murray led a frenetic comeback, punctuated by his 67-yard touchdown sprint that made it a one-score game with 5:11 to play.

Murray also accounted for four total touchdowns for the Sooners. West Virginia's Gary Jennings finished with seven catches for a career-high 225 yards. The Mountaineers were humming along early, driving 75 yards twice on nine and 10 plays, respectively, to set the early pace. West Virginia's defense answered the bell by pushing the Sooners into a 4th-and-5 situation, but, with the ball at the opponent's 45, Riley elected keep his offense on the field, a choice Murray validated with an 8-yard completion to CeeDee Lamb. But Oklahoma recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock, thanks to Murray.

OU has never lost to West Virginia since the Mountaineers joined the Big 12, going 7-0.

Oklahoma will face Texas for the second time in a season for the first time ever. It was the type of game where an OU defensive back was blocked into and beyond the opposing bench - and it turned into the crucial play of the game in Oklahoma's favor. But the Sooners could not shut the door, instead punting for the first time of the game.
