Hitting coach Pat Roessler has been fired and bullpen coach Ricky Bones is being re-assigned with the organization, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Van Wagenen is already making headlines as he said earlier on Tuesday that he wouldn't rule out Tim Tebow potentially making the Mets' opening day roster.

NY went 77-85 in Callaway's first season as a general manager, and Callaway drew attention for game management. "You've got to identify who complements yourself". Now, New York is continuing to make moves, as first base coach Ruben Amaro Jr.is being reassigned to a front office job. Van Wagenen knows Amaro dating to his own days as a player at Stanford. Minaya, Ricco and Ricciardi ran the front office last summer after GM Sandy Alderson stepped aside to focus on his health.

The Mets regressed offensively after Roessler replaced the departing Kevin Long in 2018.

Bones had been the Mets' bullpen coach since 2012, when he arrived as part of a shakeup to manager Terry Collins' staff.

Van Wagenen indicated he will continue to lean on assistant GM John Ricco and special assistant J.P. Ricciardi, but stopped short of saying both have chose to remain with the organization. "But they're certainly important to me and that's why they're out here this week". He began the season at High-A St. Lucie and overall hit.273 with six homers and played in the Eastern League All-Star game.

Tim Tebow #15 (New York Mets) of the Scottsdale Scorpions warms up in the dugout during the Arizona Fall League game against the Peoria Javelinas at Peoria Stadium on October 13, 2016 in Peoria, Arizona. "You're trying to build a winning culture, and you're going to tell me that you're going to put Tim Tebow on your major-league roster?"

Van Wagenen also met with 20-year-old shortstop prospect Andres Gimenez.
