During Square Enix's Final Fantasy XV 2nd anniversary stream they shared a letter from the game's director, Hajime Tabata, who officially announced his resignation from Square Enix and the newly-formed Luminous Studios.

Of four planned DLC episodes, only Ardyn remains in development and will be released in March 2019, while Aranea, Lunafreye and Noctis have all been cancelled.

In addition, the program announced that it will release a standalone game version of the Final Fantasy XV "Comrades" DLC as Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer: Comrades on December 13 (December 12 in North America), with sales of the original "Comrade" DLC to stop on the same date. That is with the exception of Episode Ardyn, which will still release next year as a final send-off for the game.

The departure follows a press release from the company reporting a "Booking of Extraordinary Loss" of 3.73 billion yen (approximately $33 million), which Game Industry points to being caused by strategy changes at subsidiary Luminous Productions. "The main goal of establishing Luminous Productions was to create a studio that can deliver a completely new AAA title to the global market".

Every time you fight you take it seriously, but when you've had a few world title fights, it can get a little bit monotonous. Bellew and trainer David Coldwell need a very strong game-plan, said the former WBA and IBF super-middleweight champion.

While the previously announced modding tools and Steam Workshop support have already been added, it's unclear whether the level editor is also forthcoming. More info on that is here, but you can see the trailer for Episode Ardyn below.

Featuring side quests, boss battles, mini-games and more, World of Final Fantasy Maxima also includes the option to carry your progress across to the challenging new Nightmare difficulty mode upon finishing the game, starting with fresh save data for a second story playthrough.

Meanwhile, it was announced that Final Fantasy XV's multiplayer component Comrades will get standalone editions on Xbox One and PS4, though no specific mention was made of PC.
