On Sunday, Volusia County Judge Angela Dempsey said the teen will face a first-degree premeditated murder charge in the death of 46-year-old Gail Cleavenger, who was found buried under a nearby church's fire pit.

Police in Volusia County, Fla., have charged Cleavenger's 15-year-old son, Gregory Logan Ramos, with strangling his mother in the early hours of Friday after the pair argued about a D grade he'd gotten in school.

Detectives responding to that call around 3:52 p.m. began investigating what initially was reported as a burglary, supposedly discovered by Ramos after he came home from school.

During his confession he said he used a wheelbarrow to move her body into the family van and then he drove to River City Church 1.5 miles away where he buried her in a fire pit.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said that Ramos confessed to the murder during questioning, then boasted about his plan to hide the evidence.

Ramos called 911 after he got home from school Friday and reported his mother missing and his home burglarized. He said his mom was missing and her van was still running in the driveway.

"You'd have thought he was going on national television", Chitwood said.

Officials said he later confessed to the killing of his mother and implicated his friends. "By all accounts she was an fantastic human being", Chitwood said.

Criminologist Dr. Casey Jordan spoke to Inside Edition about the killing. While they have, too, have yet to be formally, charged, police said they are likely facing multiple criminal charges. "They show no sympathy, no apathy, no remorse". His mom was there and cheered him on.

Though the boy said he wanted to be a homicide detective one day, Pagliari said: "At the end of the day, I'm standing here, and he's where he belongs".

Friends say his mother was a loving woman whose last post on Facebook was a photo of her son when he was 6.

Once the evidence piled up against him, detectives say the boy alleged his mother was abusive and he "had to kill [his mother] before she killed him".

When an initial round of strangulation failed to kill her, Ramos returned to finish the job.
