Bearing bloody lacerations on his forehead and eyebrow where gunman Scott Paul Beierle had hit him with his pistol, survivor Joshua Quick spoke to ABC's Good Morning America on Sunday about the terrifying attack that killed two people.

"The gun stopped firing".

Beierle pistol-whipped Quick, who was left with bruises and scratches over this left eye and nose from the confrontation.

The suspect then fatally shot himself, DeLeo said.

Beierle was pulled from the classroom and taken to an administrative office to write a statement - but tried to make a run for it and had to be brought back in for questioning.

The mother told the district that he had been staring at the students in a unusual way and "shouldn't be teaching kids".

"I'm already thinking about locking the doors once class starts", she said. "I was slipping, I was dripping blood everywhere because I got shot through my thigh", Albalat said. "I want to thank that guy from the bottom of my heart because he saved my life".

Scott Paul Beierle randomly targeted people after posing as a customer at the Florida Yoga studio. Police have not released information on a motive.

Kelly Schulz, a spokeswoman for the Volusia County School District, said Monday that Beierle was sacked in May after he asked a female student if she was ticklish and then touched her at the top of the stomach "below the bra line", a district report says.

"I jumped up as quickly as I could", Josh Quick told ABC News.

Gruden said that starting slot receiver Jamison Crowder , who's missed four games with an ankle injury, might practice Wednesday. Coach Jay Gruden said Lauvao and Scherff would have MRIs Monday. "We just have to make sure we stick with the plan".

A mother had contacted the school district to complain about Beierle in October 2017.

Beirele served in the Army in Germany from 2008 to 2010, according to the resume he supplied to Volusia schools.

Additionally, he was also reportedly a student at Vestal High School. Tallahassee police arrested him on 2016, again for battery.

Tallahassee Police said Beierle has had past run-ins with law enforcement related to "harassing young women" and numerous charges including battery.

Court records indicate prosecutors agreed to dismiss the battery charge after Beierle completed a six-month diversion agreement requiring him to stay out of trouble, not drink alcohol to excess and to follow a psychologist's recommendations. An FSU police report showed that Beierle told police he may have accidentally bumped into someone, but denied grabbing anyone. The two slain Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, included a student and faculty member at Florida State University, according to university officials.

In another video, the man who appeared to be Beierle likened his adolescent self to Elliot Rodger, a 22-year-old who killed six students and wounded more than a dozen others near the University of California, Santa Barbara, before killing himself in 2014. "We feel this loss profoundly and we send our deepest sympathies to Maura's and Nancy's loved ones while we pray for the recovery of those who were injured".

Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee shared a tribute to Van Vessem on its Facebook page, calling the doctor "a physician and leader who touched countless lives as chief medical officer at Capital Health Plan". Dr. Van Vessem was also a faculty member at FSU.

"She'd also say she wished nothing but peace and love and care for everybody", he said, adding the pair used to go and eat at a restaurant above the studio when he visited her. "We all have been so blessed to have Nancy in our lives".

"I was totally just shocked", she said.

"We talked about it never dreaming that it was going to be us", Jeff Binkley said.

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, who is the Democratic candidate for Florida governor, was campaigning in Miami with former President Barack Obama earlier in the day Friday and returned to his home city to visit the two hospitalized victims that night.
