I used a poor choice of word that doesn't reflect who I am or what I believe.

Hours after Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray won the Heisman Trophy, several homophobic tweets from his past resurfaced. They were deleted at some point early Sunday morning, and Murray issued an apology. The Daily Mail even claimed that Murray's post-Heisman glory was "short-lived" because of the stupid tweets.

"I apologize for the tweets that have come to light tonight from when I was 14 and 15".

Murray, of course, was taken in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Oakland A's.

Murray said he's thought about doing more for the group - Bobby Evans, Ben Powers, Creed Humphrey, Dru Samia and Cody Ford - noting that he's in a better financial situation that most Heisman winners because of his baseball contract that paid him a signing bonus of more than $4.5 million.

Murray, who threw for 4,053 yards and 40 touchdowns this year, is set to lead the 11-1 Sooners into the College Football Playoff against undefeated Alabama on December 29.
