The 3rd India vs Australia Test is being telecast on Sony Sports Network.

Head was brought to the crease to join Shaun Marsh after the top three all failed, with Usman Khawaja falling to the spin bowling of Ravindra Jadeja for 21 after Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch were removed early in the day.

India declared their first innings after scoring a mammoth 443/7 to leave Australia with just seven overs to bat on Day 2 of the third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here on Thursday.

The four-match series is now tied at 1-1, with India winning the opener in Adelaide and Australia leveling proceedings with a victory in Perth.

But the home side's hopes of taking a lead into the final test in Sydney would seem slender.

Pujara made 106, and there were also half-centuries from captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma - his first fifty outside Asia since 2015 - as the tourists built on their good base from day one at the MCG.

"We batted on it for almost two days but we didn't really pile it up".

"Virat injury not serious" Pujara allayed fears about skipper Virat Kohli's back problem, saying "it is not serious".

"This wicket is deteriorating a lot more than we probably thought it would".

In fact, he was at it today as well during the second day's play of the third Test, having a hilarious conversation with Rohit Sharma.

But yet another dropped catch robbed Lyon of the chance of a wicket when Rishabh Pant (39) slogged aerially, only for Cummins to drop a regulation catch attempt running in from long-on.

Pujara, who scored a match-winning 123 in the series-opener in Adelaide, was removed by a virtually unplayable delivery that kept low and nipped back off the seam to clip off-stump.

"I don't think it will get easier to bat on as the days go by".
