Shujaa seek revival in Cape Town despite tough pool

Kenya Sevens will be looking to bounce back from last weekend's disappointing start at the season opening Dubai Sevens as the 2018/2019 World Rugby Sevens Series heads to Cape Town, South Africa this weekend.

The 28-year-old Californian is no sevens slouch - he was named in the World Sevens Series 2017 Dream Team alongside compatriot Perry Baker.

Fiji had earlier defeated Spain in their quarterfinal 46-7 and later beat hosts South Africa in their semifinal 17-12 early this morning.

Things looked over for the New Zealand side as the game drew to a close, however, two late tries to Molia and Vilimoni Koroi saw the Kiwis snatch the heart-stopping win to progress through to the next stage.

Shujaa, who finished last in Dubai after losing all their matches, are in a tough Pool C where they will be up against Dubai Sevens bronze medallists England, Fiji and France in the second leg of the series at the Cape Town Stadium.

While another day of disappointment for the Americans, the upside for the United States of America was that they now lead the series standings by a point.

Former New Zealand sevens legend Karl Te Nana - in Cape Town as a television commentator - said: "It's like a Mack truck on a skateboard" after Barrett also brushed off another would-be tackler on his inexorable path to the try-line.
